Question: Went to emergency room on 06/26/14. Bent over felt like something ripped in back. ER did x-rays, ct scan because of blood in urine said it is strained back. Unable to pee today and throws up anything that is consumed. Was sent home with 800 mg ibuprofen, Percocet and Valium. None are taking the pain away. Has consumed at least 64 0z of liquids but can not urinate more than a dribble. This is a male 45.

Brief Answer:
USG abdomen & pelvis. Antispasmodic.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I went through the query and understood your concern.

With the history of blood in urine, severe pain, dribble in urine suggest the problem towards urinary tract obstruction. The cause may be be due to stone obstructing the urethra (dribbling urine and pain) or in the renal pelvis / ureter. USG abdomen and pelvis will help in diagnosis.

For now continue taking plenty of water and antispasmodic drug like dicyclomine will help in relieving pain. Avoid percocet till diagnosis and can continue other 2 drugs.

The problem will be solved only after removing the obstruction. So you need USG abdomen and pelvis and based on the he size of stone we can plan the management.

I hope this information helps you. Feel free to ask for any further queries. I will be glad to answer them.

Wish you good health.
Regards
