What Causes Bleeding In The Shaft Region Of Penis?

default
Posted on Sat, 18 Apr 2015
Question: Hi, I'm an 18 yr old male.
I had bleeding from the shaft region of my penis, that is, the lower region of the glans, and I am certain it wasn't from the urethral opening because it doesn't bleed while urinating. The profuse bleeding has occurred twice in 15 days. I dont experience any pain or inflammation in that region. Could you help me out?
Thanks

Brief Answer:
Require more information please

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I understand your concern and would require more information.
Please let me know whether you are circumcised or not and whether any sexual activity brought on the bleeding. Do you have any bleeding problem from other sites like gums or following minor cuts or injury or bruise easily.

I'm not circumcised...I did not have sex (im a virgin) which caused the bleeding.. both times, the bleeding occurred while having an erection, due to which the veins under the glans were exposed...then it started bleeding profusely. Moreover, I don't have any bleeding problems from other sites such as gums etc.

Brief Answer:
Likely to be from the frenulum

Detailed Answer:
The bleeding is likely to be from the frenulum of the prepuce (fore skin ). If you masturbate or have very strong eruction, it may cause a small tear and may bleed from there.

so what do I do about it?
how much time would it take to heal, and do I need to be worried about it?

Brief Answer:
Please see a surgeon

There is nothing to worry.
You will have to be examined to see the extent of the problem and may require a minor surgical procedure to avoid recurrence.
