What Causes Bleeding Gums And Painful Right Ear?
I'm not sure if this should fall under ENT or Dental
For the past 2 weeks or so, I'm having occasional bleeding from gum and my right ears are paining while opening mouth wide. I can feel the sound of jaws when I try to open the mouth wide. The pain is not 'unbearable' when i open my mount, but when I try to wide open, I can feel the pain as i mentioned.
The gum bleeding is kind of happening often ( when i brush or sometimes without any specific action )
Can you advice on what could be causing this? is it a matter of concern? I intend to consult a doctor in person for direct checkups, but I'm traveling and should be able to do this next week once I'm back XXXXXXX
You may be having a gum infection
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Gum bleeding can be due to many reasons , the most common of which is a gum infection , other reasons can be a bleeding disorder or vitamin c deficiency , however these are very rare.
I would like you to meet your dentist for confirming this and he may start you on a course of antibiotics.
For the time being you can start gargling with chlorhexidine mouth wash 3-4 times a day , it will help reduce the infection.
The pain in the right ear , associated with jaw movement , may be un related to the gum infection and is most likely to be due to your jaw joint swelling/inflammation, There is one more possibility of you having an impacted wisdom tooth and referred pain to the ear.
All your complaints seem to be arising from your teeth and i would like you to meet your dentist for further treatment.
You can take tablet paracetamol 500 mg for the pain and try to chew on soft food items so that you can avoid excessive jaw movements.
Take care
