What Causes Back, Hip And Shoulder Pain On One Side Of The Body?

default
Posted on Wed, 22 Apr 2015
Question: Hello, I am a 49 year old female with some major back, hip, rib, and shoulder pain - only on the right side of my body. This pain has been on-going for over 10 years. I've posed this question to several doctors, who all have the same response. This is something that has practically haunted me for quite some time. Here's the story, when I was young, somewhere around 10 or 11, I was playing with my friends on a homemade seesaw. The seesaw was basically a piece of dirty 2 x 4 wood that we found in the alley, and placed it on a large rock to create a seesaw. While playing on the seesaw, I received a very large splinter in my right buttock. I took it out, but I'm certain that it didn't come all the way out. I feel like it worked it's way into my flesh and bones, which is what's causing the extreme pain on my right side. I was a scared kid intimidated by a splinter, so I didn't tell my parents. I just hoped that it would disappear. Well it did disappear, right into my flesh. I have suffered severe pain, weakness, and what appears to be bone density loss, but ONLY on the right side of my body. In fact, you can look at my body and see that there's a difference, and I can feel the difference. It's gotten to the point where I can't stand for longer than 15 or 20 minutes at a time. I have to wear a back brace to perform any housework or cooking, and I can't even workout. I've received X-rays, MRI's, and even a whole body scan, but nothing ever comes of it. I'm frustrated and very scared.

Hello
I have read your query.
as your investigation mri is normal suggest that there is no functional abnormality.
due to old injury as you mentioned there can be old fibrosis or granuloma leading to persistent pain.
Physiotherapy like IFT And matrix therapy may help you.
Acupressure and acupuncture therapy may help you.
Many of my patients get relief with yoga and pranayama, and XXXXXXX XXXXXXX so you can also start that.
Medication like methylcobalamine and neurotropic medication like pregabalin can be started consulting your doctor.
I hope I have answered your questions. If you have further questions please feel free to contact us. I will be happy to answer. Take care.
