What Causes Agitation And Restlessness While On Wellbutrin?

default
Posted on Wed, 16 Dec 2015
Question: I have been treated for severe depression and anxiety and PTSD since the death of my son in 2000. Many of the SSRs I have taken give me adverse or reverse reactions (like celexa and Prozac) Lately the Zolof that had worked at very high doses now only causes severe anxiety. My doctors are now considering that I may have Bipolar Disorder. Is this likely
Some additional info. I am now on Wellbutrun and am crying a lot and flying into rages at the drop of a hat. This also happened on Celexa.

Brief Answer:
Bipolar is unlikely

Detailed Answer:
Hello, Madam.

I can certainly understand your concerns and empathize with you.

I apologize for the delayed response owing to my work schedule.

I have worked through your query in detail.

Bipolar disorder is highly unlikely.

Many of your symptoms do respond to a combination of various antidepressants by dose modification.

Wellbutrin is known to produce great degrees of agitation and restlessness which is what you are currently experiencing.

Instead of Celexa which contains Citalopram, I advise you to substitute it for Escitalopram which produces minimal side effects.

An addition of long acting Anxiolytic like Clonazepam will prove pretty useful in controlling the anxiety.

Please check with your physician if he shares my view and if can prescribe the medication(s)to you.

Post your further queries if any.
Thank you.
