Brief Answer:
Muscle spasm likely.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
A sudden acute pain in the upper thigh can be due to a muscle spasm caused by a sudden movement, dehydration or an electrolyte imbalance. Taking rest, mild pain killer and doing a hot compress should help. In severe cases, oral muscle relaxant may be needed.
I hope this answers your query.

I have experienced back muscle spasms in the past but
this did not feel like that. With the back spasms, it was as if it was seizing up.

This pain is more of a steady pulsating pain.

Never had a blood clot but can you rile that out.

Brief Answer:
Needs color doppler scan to rule out.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
A blood clot cannot be ruled out without a color doppler scan. You will need to attend ER for that. You can do a hot compress and see if it helps. The pain will persist in case of clot.
Hope my answer is helpful.

I did put heat on it in the p.m. and it did subside. Therefore, unless it returns with consistency, it must
be muscular.

Brief Answer:
Yes.

Detailed Answer:
The pain that subsided on a hot compress is not likely to be due to a blood clot. Just relax and avoid any overwork. Do increase your fluid intake also.
Regards.
