What Causes Acid Reflux, Bloating And Gas?

default
Posted on Mon, 3 Aug 2015
Question: Hi
Yesterday I went to emergency because I felt a pressure on my upper right and left rig cage area.
It was an episode that sent me to the bath room with severe diaherra. After I gained my composure I went to emergency and told them about the symptoms I was feeling regarding my bloated stomach and pressure as I described. I also told them about the acid reflux I had been experincing occasionly.
To combat the situation I told them that I had taken apple cider vinegar for 3 days before my dinner. I learned through google that apple cider vinegar would remedy my reflux as I read that reflux is a result of to little stomach acid.
The doctor gave me a blood test and aultrasound and told me everything checked ok. I had no gallstones and my other organs checked ok too. He only concluded that I may have had a buld up of stomach acid and gave me Zantac and pantaloc 40mg a two week supply.
I have a concern about the proton pump inhibitor he described. The first dose upon returning home set my gall bladder into a hurtful spasm. I passed it off as the medicine needing to work. Well this is day 2 on my 3rd dose now and I had an unusual similar attack again feeling a pinching sensation in my upper right rib cage area. I also shoud mention that I have passed a considerable amount of gas on day 2 that is a side effect I think. The concern I have is should I be feeling the pinching sensation of the gall bladder and passing of the unusual amount of gas. Is this the medicine working or did he give me the wrong thing as I seem to think he should of treated my problem because I have low stomach acid. Perhaps I gave myself an ulcer from the apple cider vinegar.

Brief Answer:
You have to check on your diet.

Detailed Answer:
Hi ,
Welcome to the HCM.
Dear first of all I would like to know that how did you take apple cider vinegar?Did you take it with water or just engulfed without mixing in water.
The second thing I would like to tell you that better time taking apple cider vinegar is either in the morning after waking up or in the night before sleeping.
Since it seems that you have been suffering from acid reflux for quite long .And now you are having bloating and gases problem too.
Well taking proton pump inhibitor may help decreasing acidity but temporary.
You need to first rule out what is causing these symptoms? Like this pinching pain ,which is probaly because of gases in stomach). For that I need to know that do you skip your meals or you give long gaps between meals? Do you like more spicy and fried things?what you prefer to eat at night time?
Since your investigation reports came clear so most probably it is random diet or some medicines (if you are taking any) which could be problematic.

So I need to know more about your diet ,timing and medicine history to clarify further.

Wish you best of health.

Considering the pinching sensation in the upper right rib cage area and the amou t of gas I passed it hardly seems like temporary relief. Would you agree I should stop taking it?

To answer your questions about my diet I have breakfast at 930. I will keep it simple with two packages of oatmeal with yogurt. I will hav3 a bannana or apple. At noon I usuall have peanut butter and jam sandwiches and an apple. I will have dinn er at 630 where I try and eat heathly twice a week but usually have fast food. I have also become a red wine drinker. In the last couple of months it has been a bottle a week.
I should also say the I have had a lot of fluids with my meals in the past 20 years. I recently found out that this is not a good habbit to have.
I have started to mix a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar with my water and drink after my meals. I have only done this 3 times before experience the serious symptoms as described in my first letter.

Any advice in how I can fix my reflux problem. Is there any possibility that I may have too little stomach acid considering some explanations on google say reflux is a result of too little stomach acid.

Brief Answer:
You need to avoid fast food.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Dear it seems the main culprit is having fast food mostly at night time.
I would like to tell you some tips ;follow these for one week and you can get back to me then.
.Have aleo vera juice 1/4th of a glass in empty stomach in the morning. After 1 hour you can have your breakfast.
Eat fruits as mid meals not with meals like not with breakfast or lunch or dinner.Eat between meals.
Have lunch as usual but do not have fluid with meals ,instead have it half hour before meals.
Between lunch and dinner have one mid meal like sweet corns or sprouts.
In dinner avoid fast food totally for atleast one month, until you feel well and dont have
Bloating problem .
As you have your dinner early at 6.30 pm.Try to have some light food like legumes with brown rice ,grilled or boiled chicken or fish with salad ,or cheese omelate etc.

If you have your dinner at 6.30pm and sleep late at 11 or after 10 then you should have some thing like watermelon, pappaya etc.
For symptometically relieving your symptoms you may try tab.esmoprazole 30 mg half hour before breakfast for 5 days.

Hope this will help you to relieve your symptoms, follow after one week.
