What Causes A Swollen Itchy Red Lump On The Right Arm?

default
Posted on Fri, 15 Jul 2016
Question: I woke up this morning with a swollen, itchy, red lump on my right arm above the wrist. Earlier it was warm to the touch but not as much now, however, their are two more smaller lumps on the same arm. Yesterday I suddenly had several itchy bumps on that arm that looked like mosquito bites though I don't think I was bitten by anything. What could this be? Should I be concerned?

Brief Answer:
acute urticaria

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Welcome to Healthcaremagic.com. I have read your query. I understand your concern. As per details, it seems that you are suffering from a condition called acute urticaria. It is characterised by red colored itchy transient eruptions over body. It is an allergic condition of skin that can be caused by allergy to recent infection, any food, seasonal change, drugs, pollen grains etc. I will advise you to get your thyroid profile, Absolute Eosinophil count, IgE levels done. In such cases, I prefer to advise a combination of levocetrizine and montelukast to my patients. You can share my opinion with your doctor. I hope it helps. Take care.
