default
Posted on Wed, 23 Mar 2016
Question: Hi, a few weeks ago my dog pulled me out the door and i fell hitting my forehead a nose. I had a very large lump on my forehead, but nothing was wrongbwith my nose. I'm still experiencing tenderness in that area andvocassional headaches. Should I go see my doctor, this is not the first time I've done this. It is the first time the pain has lingered this long. I'm 60 years old.

Brief Answer:
Consult and visit a neurologist if danger signs as mentioned are present

Detailed Answer:
Hello Boksanen,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
Head injury due to such fall is usually trivial and does not require any neuroimaging.
Imaging of brain is indicated if head injury is severe , associated with loss of consciousness, seizures, weakness, bleeding through nose or ear.
Mild tenderness over the impact region may persist for few weeks.
In older age, possibility of subarachnoid bleeding after an asymptomatic period may occur and person should be watchful for any persistent headache, vomiting, impairment of consciousness or motor weakness.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
