Brief Answer:
There are newer tests available.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query.

1. False positive results with Mantoux skin test (Tuberculin Test) can occur due to many reasons.

2. In such cases a TB Gold (QuantiFeron) test is recommended. A TB PCR test, a Hain's test and sputum for AFB x 3 can also be done.

3. The ESR test has prognostic value and a single reading cannot be relied on.

4. These tests should settle the issue.

I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.

Regards.

1. Dr. XXXXXXX Udwadia and Dr. XXXXXXX Bendre are both Chest and TB specialists.

2. You should consult both, given the nature of your problem.

3. The tests that I have mentioned are standard tests available at all major labs.

4 Upload a progress report.
