Question: Hello doctor - i have been having cough and chest congestion for over a month and multiple reports inclusing chest x ray, haematogram etc. i also took a course of antibiotic but no significant improvement. Based on the haematogram, i see i have relative eosinophilia -8%. Could you please advise what can be done now? It is frustrating and causing many sleepless nights already. Thanks much.

Brief Answer:
Get done PFT.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

I can understand your situation and problem.
In my opinion, you are mostly having bronchitis.
So better to get done PFT (Pulmonary Function Test) for the diagnosis of bronchitis.
It will also tell you about severity of the disease and treatment of bronchitis is based on severity only.
You may need inhaled bronchodilators and inhaled corticosteroid (ICS).
Antihistamine drug is also effective.
No need to worry for 8% of eosinophils. It is not much high. And it can be seen in bronchitis due to allergic cause.
Antihistamine drugs are effective in this situation.
So consult your doctor and discuss all these.
Hope I have solved your query.
I will be happy to help you further.
Wish you good health. Thanks.
