Brief Answer:
In flu the symptoms worsen over a day or two and make you ill suddenly.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Thanks for writing in to us.

I have read through your query in detail.
The flu is caused by a virus and usually transmitted from a person having it to those around them

The symptoms of flu can vary from slight headache and cough to high fever and weakness.
Some of the symptoms in flu are the following
1. Cough
2. Headache
3. Weakness
4. Sore throat
5. Fever
6. Shivering and chills

The symptoms in flu start suddenly and then worsen over a day or two. On about the third day it is at its worst and then slowly starts improving in most people and by 5 days to a week the symptoms reduce and the patient starts to feels better.

In children and elderly, the flu might take a longer course. Once a flu has started, you cannot stop it from proceeding. Taking symptomatic treatment like anti cough and fever medications might make you feel comfortable along with taking rest and staying indoors.

Hope this answers your question. Please feel free to correct any oversight in my interpretation of your problems and discuss them in detail as per your requirements.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.

Regards,
Dr.Vivek
