What Are The Side Effects Of Abruptly Stopping Prolomet?
Question: Dear Sukhvindar ji,
My new tmt, one day holter & ECO reports came out normal. Doctor told me I am perfectly all right and not required to take prolomat XL 25. However if you remember when I quite prolomat xl25 last time my holter report showed complications.
So can I slowly quite this. Can I reduce dose from 25 to 12 and can I again go back to 25 for while if things ate not going well

Brief Answer:
please see details.
Detailed Answer:
Dear Sir
1. Since your doctor has advised you to quit prolomet 25 mg, you should discontinue it gradually. You can reduce it to 12.5 for 5-7 days and then quit it.
2. No, it does not seem correct that those runs of VPCs in your previous holter monitoring were related to sudden withdrawal of metoprolol.
3. Please do not restart prolomet on your own, if you feel any problem after stopping prolomet (metoprolol). Instead you should contact your current doctor and discuss it out. It is so because chances of any problem after stopping 25 mg of prolomet are low.
Sincerely
Sukhvinder
