What Are The Chances Of Pregnancy While Having 16mm Follicle Size?

Question: On day 16, ultrasound showed 16 mm follicle...again on day 17, ultrasound showed ruptured follicle. Coupulated on 12th, 14th and 15th day of cycle. In this case what are the chances of getting pregnant and sustaining a healty pregnancy? Pls advise. Should we have sex on day 17th for more chances? Or is it that 16 mm is not a suitable size. Mild PCO symptoms are seen. Hormonal tests are nomal. Periods are 30 to 31 days cycle.

I understand your concerns about chances of pregnancy.

Following is my reply:

1) Chances of pregnancy in such monitored cycle is around 10 to 15 percent.

2) It is better to have sexual intercourse on 17, 18th day also.

3) Ideal size is 18mm which should have reached on day 16 night and ruptured on day 17.

Thank you Dr XXXXXXX I have a follow up question.

We had relation 2 days before and on day of ovulatuon. She ovulated 13 days past. Early morning 4:30 am she had severe sweating, dry mouth, pulse 60/min. breadthlessness gas, urine & little motion too. After that throughout day she had fainty feeling slept for many hours.....what does all this mean?

All 12 days she had severe tight bloating abdomin & very gassy. After 13th morning this symptoms are gone. However she still feels very weak & fainty. Morning scene was like drop in sugar level. She has a 30/31 day cycle. Susten medicine was taken from 1 dpo to 10 dpo as per gynac. What could be the reason?

Symptoms you described happen sometime during ovulation. Therefore nothing to worry about it.

I dont see any other reason for these symptoms if they have been appearing during time when she was not ovulating.

Sir, above symptoms are post ovulation. After keeping relations at ovulation time we are now waiting for chances of being pregnant or not. Today is 14 day post ovulation.
She did "I can" test today morning which was negative.
I could not understand why she had such experience at 4:30 am on day 13 post ovulation. What does that mean?

These symptoms are probably premenstrual as these are symptoms that appear prior to menstruation and nothing else.

These symptoms cannot be anything else other than this.

Hi,

It is difficult to say why there was no conception. Chances of pregnancy in each cycle is around 10 percent only though everything is normal. Hence I suggest you keep trying this way for another 3 months.

If not successful after 3 months, you can go for IUI ( Intrauterine Insemination ) procedure.
