What Are The Chances Of Pregnancy On Missing Natazia Doses?

default
Posted on Thu, 16 Oct 2014
Question: Hi. I have sort of a personal question..I am on the birth control pill Natazia. I have been taking it every day except for the last 5 days of the pill and then there are 2 placebo pills I believe. So I was in my last row. I didn't take the first 5 pills which are active pills I believe and then the last 2 pills which I assume are placebo or inactive. We had sex the first time that I missed my pill but then I took 2 and we had sex 3 hours later. Then I misplaced my pills and I didn't take the any of them for about 5 days. But we continued having sex. Yes I know it was a mistake. :( About two days ago I took two pills in one day. then the last pill yesterday. and now i start my new pack today. i know its all screwed up but i can't get pregnant right now. We have been having unprotected sex for the past week. I know this wasn't smart of me. Should I be okay? What do I need to do??

Brief Answer:
Pregnancy chances are low.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
You have missed 5 active pills in a row- Day 22-26. On day 22 you took two pills after you remembered it. Then did not take any pill on day 23-28. Since you have had sex multiple times during these days emergency contraceptive will not give you more than 60% protection. Taking last two placebo pills will not help. After Day 22 it is relatively safe period of your cycle and chances of conception are less than 5%.
It is best to wait for your periods and start with a new pack on day of periods. In case there are no periods then test your urine for pregnancy at least 10 days after the day of last intercourse.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.

Okay. Can I take a test tomorrow? I've been nauseous these past two days and I'm nervous that it could be pregnancy..could it also be because I'm screwing up with my birth control? Would I have symptoms this early?

Thanks. :)

Brief Answer:
It is too early now.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
Taking a test so soon will give a false negative test even if you are pregnant. It is right now too early to get a positive test or any symptoms of pregnancy. Wait for a week for your periods or a blood test for pregnancy.
Hope my answer is helpful.
Do accept my answer in case there are no further queries.

Brief Answer:
You can test your urine.

Detailed Answer:
If it has been nine days since you had sex last time then you can test your urine for pregnancy. The symptoms that you are having could be due to pregnancy.

Could they also be due to skipping birth control ? I will test my urine first thing tomorrow morning..Does it have to be in the morning ?
doctor
Answered by Dr. Dr. Rakhi Tayal (11 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
Pregnancy likely.

Detailed Answer:
Taking the pills causes nausea and not skipping of pills. It is best to use the first morning sample of urine for more accurate results and an early detection of pregnancy.
Do keep me posted regarding the results.

Brief Answer:
Details below.

Detailed Answer:
Have you started taking the next pill pack? I thought that you are not taking any pills now and are waiting for your periods for last 9 days. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
If you are taking the pills then the symptoms could be due to the pills and not pregnancy. However it is best to do a urine a test and relax. In case the test is negative then continue taking the pills regularly.

Yes I am taking the pills. Sorry i know that i was a bit confusing. I missed my pills for a few days and then caught up on 3 of them then started taking the pill pack the next day so today i took my second pill. How could the symptoms be due to the pill? Just wondering. Thanks. :)

Answered by Dr. Dr. Rakhi Tayal (5 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
Likely to be due to pills.

Detailed Answer:
Since you have started with a new pack the first pills are hormonal pills and these are commonly associated with side effects like nausea and heartburn. Gradually our body gets accustomed to the side effects and we do not feel these symptoms by the end of the pack.
