What Are The Chances Of Positive Pregnancy When White Medium Is Not Visible During Embryo Transfer?

default
Posted on Mon, 9 Feb 2015
Question: This is my second ivf transfer. The first time I clearly saw the white swirling medium that the embryo is within on the sono. This second time neither me nor my husband saw the white medium. When I asked about this I was told that at least I saw the catheter. I am very concerned that there was a lab mistake and the catheter was empty before insertion. Have you ever seen a positive pregnancy test when there was no embryo holding medium in the sonogram? How common is it to see no white medium but a positive pregnancy test?

Brief Answer:
shadow not necessary

Detailed Answer:
Hi

What you see in the scan after embryo transfer is air which is placed along with the embryo.

Hence it is possible that less air is placed with embryo this time and hence you have not seen it.

Positive pregnancy test is possible in such situations.

Have you ever performed an IVF transfer procedure with sonoand how many times? If you have not performed many can you please forward my question to a specialist that has performed IFV transfer with sono, because from what I understand there is always a liquid medium not just air and that is how the Doctor knows the placement of the embryo.

Brief Answer:
Air shadow

Detailed Answer:
Hi

I am a qualified IVF specialist doing these procedures on daily basis.

You can google my name. I am fertility consultant in XXXXXXX IVI Fertility at XXXXXXX

There is mixture of air and luquid medium along with embryo. The shadow you see is majorly from air than medium alone.
