What Are The Chances Of HIV Transmission Through Used Syringes?

default
Posted on Fri, 30 Sep 2016
Question: Sir, I am a male of 36 age. Before 3 months I went to a local pathological laboratory for HIV test ( prescribed by a doctor to test just before pregnancy planning by me & my wife). My test report came negative. But I forgot to see whether the lab technician used new syringe or used one to collect blood from me. My question is if that syringe contains HIV infected blood previously then is it possible that the test result to be negative( I got my HIV status negative in that test)??? I am not in a relationship with my wife fron that day.

Brief Answer:
Nothing to worry, however routine and timely follow-up to continue..

Detailed Answer:
Hello xxxxxxxxxxxx, Welcome back to HCM,
I've gone through your query and understand your concern..

First of all, please allay these fears, and relax..it's nearly impossible for any lab technician/medical/para-medical personnel to do such act..so chances are really remote..

Secondly, please note that HIV virus can't survive outside human body and in atmospheric temperature it gets destroyed within a few seconds only, so don't worry about such incidents..

Trust the medical personnel and the standard care of therapy, it's nearly impossible, and since 3 months passed by , if this is bothering you this much, then you can simply get another 4th Generation Test for your satisfaction (I'm quite certain that it'll come negative as well)..

Don't worry about it and move one with your life happily..

Take Care
Kind Regards
