I've had unprotected vaginal sex with a sex worker. I'm worried about receiving an HIV infection. What are my odds of getting the disease? I mean are my chances low of getting HIV?

Brief Answer:
Depends on the HIV status of the sex worker.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Welcome and thanks for your query.
If the sex worker had HIV secreting the virus in secretions, then your risk is high and if the sex worker did not have HIV, the risk is nil. So if possible check out the HIV status of the sex worker and take post exposure prophylaxis if positive. If negative relax now and be better prepared for safe sex, should you have another urge in the future.
Take care
