What Are The Chance Of Contracting HIV After Protected Intercourse?

default
Posted on Tue, 28 Jun 2016
Question: I had sex several times (10 times) with different prostitutes with protected condom about 7 weeks ago. I did lick their vagina for less than 30 seconds, and my mouth did not have any wound (only 3 times after that I did not have oral sex with the next ones). They did lick my part too, also less than 30 seconds. After that I used condom to have sex, and always came pretty fast about 1 or 3 mins. What is the probability to have HIV from that? I went to a doctor to ask, he said I had no chance to have HIV. But now I am having a little dry cough for 5 days, not constantly but little sore throat, other than that no other symptoms are similar to HIV symptom. Please advise me, I am very stressful right now, usually feel tired every time I think about it.

Brief Answer:
Very very low chance, close to non-existant, best to test at 28 days

Detailed Answer:
Hello sir and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. Well, honestly the risk of HIV cannot be ruled out completely like your doctor did, but it is also true that the chances of HIV transmission through the unprotected acts you performed and received are negligible and the chances are very very less.

In my opinion, the chances are less than 5 %, but it would still be safer to get tested. Go ahead with a HIV DUO test which can be performed on or after the 28th day from the exposure, and the results are about 98% accurate which is a very good number.

I hope you find my response helpful. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications, I am always here to help.

Best wishes.

Thank you so much, reading from the internet I feel that I can't have great chance to have HIV, but I had a great chance to do well in my future. I don't want my mistakes killed my future which caused me a great anxiety about HIV, I fear about that, fear to get a test, I don't want to face the fact if it is positive. I want to find a way to get rig of this anxiety, and have the courage to go to take the test. Please help.

Brief Answer:
You need to return to living your life normally

Detailed Answer:
Hello once again sir.

The chances for a positive are very very very low sir. So you need to understand that if you do not go for the test, you are just going to live your days in anxiety. You will not be able to enjoy life, you will not be able to do anything in peace.

But just imagine the day your test results are out and you are negative (which is most likely), imagine the happiness you will experience, imagine how you can celebrate not just on that day, but for the rest of your life.

So the only way to get rid of this anxiety is to get tested, which will surely clear your anxiety and return a negative result. It is best for you, and yout mental and physical state, trust me sir.

Best wishes.
