Brief Answer:
I have a few questions first.

Detailed Answer:
Hello, I'm Dr. Branch, thanks for using Ask a Doctor. Before I answer, I just want to ask a few questions first to make sure I understand your symptoms. Does this warm sensation hurt, or not? Is there any rash there? Do you notice the sensation more when you are doing certain activities? Do you have any past medical history?

I look forward to your response and can hopefully answer your question better then.

There is no pain at all. There is not rash. I take per diem: metoprolol 100mg 1 a day, Atorvastatin (1) 40mg; doxazosin 4mg (1) and vitamins Centrum silver for women, D3 1000IU, Biotin 1000mcg amd Pepsid for heartburn. This warm sensation happens about every 15 minutes or so. I feel fine, no even dizzy. I sit at my computer a lot. I do not do much walking, my knees bother me. I am overweight (314 pounds and 5 feet 3 inches).
Hope this information helps.

correction I take 1 metoprolol in the morning and one at night. Also, I do not take Pepsid every day, only when I eat or drink something that does not agree with me. I do NOT drink or smoke at all.

Does the warm sensation happen only when you are sitting? Does anything seem to make it go away?

Well, now I am going to sound fickle. I wrote you when this sensation was going on every 15 minutes or so. It was about 7:45am. Since then I only had one of these episodes and it is now 10:30am and I have been mostly sitting in a slightly cushioned chair. I purposely got up and walked around a little and...nothing. So, to answer your questions, I am not aware of any movements to periods of time that brings on these sensations or makes them go away. I recall this happening when I was in my 50s only it was in the back of my right thigh. It went away by itself after a few days. (I was a frequent drinker then but quit cold turkey 10 yrs ago...no tobacco nor alchohol since).

I have answered your questions but I do NOT see a response yet. By the way, it's been a few hours since I have felt this warm sensation. I took a nap this afternoon and was not bothered by it laying down nor did I feel anything after getting up and walking around. I am just curious why I had this warm sensation to begin with and should I consult with my PCP?

Brief Answer:
No need to see your PCP

Detailed Answer:
Hello, sorry for the delay. I don’t think the symptoms you are having are anything to worry about, and if they seem to be going away on their own I don’t think there is any need to see your PCP for this. It may be that a nerve or muscle was getting irritated temporarily, maybe from sitting too long, but whatever the reason it sounds like it is resolving. I don’t think it indicates there is anything else serious going on, so I think you can be reassured.

I hope that helps, let me know if you have any other questions at all, I’d be glad to help further.
