Suggest Ways To Treat Breast Cancer

default
Posted on Tue, 5 Sep 2017
Question: I am currently receiving chemotherapy (Taxotere and Cytoxan) to treat breast cancer. I completed my first cycle last week and have 5 more cycles to go which will extend over the next 4 months. Prior to my cancer diagnosis, I had been undergoing laser hair treatments (to remove unwanted hair on my lower legs, bikini area and underarms). I completed 8 sessions and am scheduled to have 2 more sessions.

I am aware that I will be completely hairless soon as a result of my chemo treatments but I am also aware that is only temporary. Would it be safe to receive my final 2 laser hair treatments while I am undergoing chemo or should I wait until after I have completed my 6 cycles of chemo (and how much time should I let pass before continuing with the laser treatments once my chemo treatment has ended)?

Brief Answer:
Laser hair removak is completely safe during chemotherapy

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for trusting HealthcareMagic for your health concern

It is completely safe to undergo Laser hair removal while on chemotherapy. However, chemotherapeutic agents can cause temperory thinning and loss of hair. So you can also consider doing the Laser hair removal once the hair has grown in after the full cycle of chemotherapy.
But there is no contraindications or safety concerns for laser hair removal while going through chemotherapy cycles. You can schedule for the Laser hair removal at any point during chemotherapy cycles as needed.
