Question: I am suffering with dust allergy with continuous sneezing. It is causing blockage of nostrils. I have this problem since my childhood, but it has become severe since last one year. I try to maintain my living places as dust free as possible, but even minor things are causing my whole day spoil with this problem. Apart from dust, I have this trouble with soaps, perfumes and other sprays too.
I haven't taken any treatment for this yet. Usually, I manage this with home remedies to in-healing stream etc..,

Brief Answer:
These are the symptoms of Allergic rhinitis.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query.

1. These are the symptoms of Allergic Rhinitis.

2. An ENT examination by a local ENT Specialist followed by a trial prescription of a minimum of two weeks for a once a day anti-allergic combination of an anti-histamine (such as fexofenadine. levocetirizine or cetirizine) and an anti-leukotriene (such as montelukast) should be taken. In addition., a once a day nasal steroid spray (such as mometasone or fluticasone) should be started. Regular steam inhalation, hypertonic saline nasal washes will help.

3. The next step is to check for specific allergies and avoid them for long term relief. This will require skin prick tests, blood tests and so on. This can be discussed once the symptoms are controlled.

4. If the nasal obstruction persists, nasal turbinate reduction by radio-frequency, coblation or turbinectomy will relieve the nasal obstruction..

5. Do write back with the results of this treatment.

I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.

Regards.
