Brief Answer:
perhaps the pathogen is resistant to this drug....

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

if you've taken this drug for 6 days, the symptoms are supposed to be over. For a simple uncomplicated cystitis even a 3-day course can be enough. Since you're still having symptoms, the pathogen does not seem to respond well to the antibiotic. Perhaps it's resistant to it. In such cases I usually advise my patients to try a more potent antibiotic like a quinolone. Ciprofloxacin is a very popular choice among doctors and very effective in treating urinary tract infections.

If you've had an antibiogram done then the choice can be more easily done and can answer my question about this pathogen's resistance or susceptibility to TMP/SMZ.

I hope it helps!
Kind Regards!
