Suggest Treatment For Tingling Sensation On Left Ear, Throat Pain And Fever

Question: Hi,
I am 25 year old male
I had throat infection earlier in April, 2015 and I had taken antibiotic (levoflox, around 20 tablets) but it didn't cure fully. As per direction from my family doctor he prescribed me augmentin and Allegra for 2-3 days and then switched to azithral 500 mg for 3 days and levoflox for 7 days
It helped me but in July end,2015 I again had the signs of throat infection with dry cough, white transparent sticky phlegm so I met a doctor and he recommended me azithral 500 for around 9 days (1 tab a day)
Now again in august, 2015 I am having this issue but more sever. I have throat pain which affects my eating and I was having fever as well. I have a bit of tingling sensation on my left ear as well. When I visited a doctor he said me I have a bit of pus formation in my throat so he recommended me novaclox-lb ( 5 day course with 3 tabs a day) and voveran as pain killer. It's been two days but I don't feel much improvement (the pain has reduced but there is an ongoing itchness with a little pain in my throat). I am very much concerned as this issue is occurring rapidly. Plz suggest whether I am taking right medicine or not. And also whether so much of antibiotics is proving helpful or not..

To mention I am not a smoker, drink very very occasionally. But I am a XXXXXXX and do indulge in oral sex with multiple partners

Brief Answer:
Throat swab & PCR tests.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query.

1. Given your history, it is possible that theses recurrent sore throat episodes are due to a resistant infection or a sexually transmitted infection.

2. Get a throat swab and PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) tests done.

3. Consult a Venereal Disease Specialist.

4. IV antibiotics must be used.

5. Avoid multiple partners.

I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.

Regards.

Brief Answer:
It is possible yo get the tests done.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for writing back.

1. Yes it is possible to get the tests done at all major labs.

2. It will be better if you let an ENT Specialist take the throat swab.

3. Let a Venereal Disease Specialist decide which PCR tests to run as these are expensive tests and there are about 25 to 30 types of bacteria an viruses that spread such infections.

I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.

Regards.
