Suggest Treatment For Tingling Sensation In The Throat

default
Posted on Tue, 20 Sep 2016
Question: I have a tightening and tingling in the throat. I slept on a bad pillow 3 months ago and woke up with a dull pain at the base of my skull on the right side. I've have the camera down the throat from an ENT and also had CT Scan. It showed nothing wrong with my throat, yet the tightness is getting worse. Could a pinched nerve be causing the tightening in my throat?

Brief Answer:
Further consultation with neurologist advised

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX

I have gone through your medical history carefully and understood your concern.

Let me recapitalize your case:
- 63 years old male
- current symptoms: tightening and tingling in the throat
- started 3 months ago after sleeping on a bad pillow
- ENT specialist found nothing
- medications tried antibiotics, steroids, nexium, even going to PT, so far nothing works.

If the symptoms started after sleeping on a bad pillow, then, possibly is related to pinched nerve.

A further consultation with neurologist advised to rule it out.
I also advise to continue with PT, and avoid swallowing hard foods until improvement.

Antiinflammatories are also recommended until you see neurologist.

All the best.
