Suggest Treatment For Swelling In Clitoris Due To An UTI

default
Posted on Mon, 21 Apr 2014
Question: I was diagnosed with strep and a possible UTI (culture was inconclusive) last week. I started 7 gm days of levaquin 500m for seven days. I finished the treatments yesterday. I have had painful urination but no itching. My clitoris became swollen the first few days but then just remained sensitive and less swollen. Today before my shower I looked at my clitoris and it was peeling and there was a little blood. I gently removed the peeling skin. My clitoris is now the normal size but very red (and of course there is the whole bleeding thing). I have put a OC triple antibiotic on it. My doctor suggested that I may have a yeast infection when I called the first time I notice swelling so I have been putting OC yeast infection cream in that area. I am sexually active with my husband of 17 years. We have not had sex in almost 2 weeks (before strep). I have no reason to believe either of us should have STD. Any thoughts on what this might be?

Brief Answer: streptococcal infection in healing phase Detailed Answer: Hello mam, in my opinion you have streptococcal infection as per the clinical course and description of the lesion. Ever since you have taken the full course already I would suggest you to just keep applying the local ointment till you have symptoms which will subside in while from now. Take care about the local hygiene of your private parts by changing your undergarments at frequent intervals and using either a panty-liner or a sanitary napkin for a few days. If symptoms still persist I would suggest you to visit your gynecologist for examination of the affected area and some laboratory tests.Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help. Take care.
