Suggest Treatment For Stomach Discomfort And Gas
Dyspepsia most likely cause...
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Abdominal discomfort, bloating/gas and frequent indigestion/upset points towards dyspepsia. The condition is related to dietary and lifestyle. Therefore before we start evaluating, I seriously urge you to look into your diet-lifestyle and bring in changes if needed. The following are some important and essential changes that you should include:
1. Be regular with your food timings. Avoid skipping and fasting.
2. Quit if not restrict hot and spicy food. Beverages, alcohol and smoking (if any) should also be avoided.
3. Prefer to eat multiple small meals over the course of day rather than one large heavy meal.
4. Choose high fibre green leafy vegetables over refined and processed food.
5. Drink plenty of fluids and water. 6-8 glasses of water is essential.
6. Start exercise if you don't. Early morning walk, aerobic exercise such as jogging, brisk walking, yoga, etc., are healthier and stimulate intestine functions.
Along with these small changes, you can also try a course of antacid and proton pump inhibitor drugs for couple of weeks and see if that makes a difference. I write Syp. Mucaine gel 1tsp thrice a day half an hour before food and 1 tablet of pantoprazole 40mg once a day before breakfast to my patients. If you don't find improvement in the course of 2 weeks treatment, it is advisable to consult a physician/gastroenterologist and plan further investigations which might include an ultrasound scan and endoscopy.
Hope this answers your question. Let me know if you need clarifications.

Thanks a lot for the detailed information and solution. Could you please suggest some tablet for for antacid instead of the syrup because I have to take that at twice at my office.

Gaviscon, gelusil or digene are the alternatives...
Detailed Answer:
Mucaine gel is a syrup only preparation. Since it is cumbersome to travel with a syrup bottle, you can try alternate antacid brands. Gaviscon, digene and gelusil are few chewable tablets which I am aware of. You can use one of the same three times a day half an hour before food.
Hope this helps. If you have no more questions, please close this discussion.
