Suggest Treatment For Stage 4 Colorectal Cancer

Posted on Thu, 20 Oct 2016
Question: I am a 70 yr. old woman, never been overweight more than 10 lbs. Never smoked, drink rarely, at a
social event. I was DX'd with ColonRectal cancer, Stage 4 involving liver. I have five tumors at points on the liver. My doctor recommended the surgery to insert the chemical directly to the liver by groin, and shutting off blood supply around selected areas. This procedure would be followed up by monthly shots of Sandostatin.
Due to my age, it was suggested that maybe the monthly shots would keep it at bay, doing the surgery, only if necessary. I am trying to understand and decide which way to go. Prolonging my life and living comfortably is my goal, as opposed to full chem, which was suggested until new plan suggested yesterday. Hope you have some advice for me. Thank you.

Brief Answer:
You can go for chemical treatment.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, dear
I have gone through your question.
I can understand your concern.

You have Colo rectal cancer and already spread to liver. So it become stage 4.

Surgery for colon removal is not useful. Because tumour already spread to other areas.

Only options you have are chemotherapy or some other chemical treatment.

Chemotherapy causes worsening of life quality. Side effects are difficult to tolerate.

So you should go for chemical treatment to shut down blood supply of selected areas in liver.

I can not say it will work. Because there are high chance that tumour may be spread to other organ from different routes. But still it is a good option.

Hope I have answered your question. If you have any doubts then feel free to ask me.
I will be happy to answer.
