Suggest Treatment For Splinter In Right Knee

default
Posted on Tue, 7 Oct 2014
Question: I poked my knee with a plam tree splinter, if you are sitting down and touch your right knee from the side on the outer soft spot, that is where the 1cm splinter went in, and it has been hurting since, I cant put any pressure on my leg. The splinter did not stay in, it was pulled out and did not break off the palm tree branch. I have been limping since, as if I had a sports injury, i know its not an alergic reaction because I also got poked on my left leg and both hands and they are fine. I have iced my knee and have an ace wrap on it, but still hurts bad.

Also its not swollen

Brief Answer:
You have got soft tissue injury in your right knee.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, XXXX

Welcome to healthcaremagic.

I'm Dr. Sudhir Kumar

After going through your query I think you may have got soft tissue injury in your right knee. As you said there is no swelling then no need to worry much.

You can take analgesics such as diclofenac/ibuprofen available over the counter.

Rest is advised to promote healing.

Keep it elevated and continue to ice it. Do not massage. No hot fomentation.

Vitamin B-complex and vitamin C are advised to take to promote healing of wound.

I have two questions for you
1.When it occurred?.
2.Whether you have fever?

To further investigate the case X-RAY KNEE is advisable to see any bony injury and MRI of knee to see if any part of splinter broken inside and soft tissue injury.

Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.

Wishing you good health.

Take care
