Suggest Treatment For Soreness In Buttocks When Diagnosed With Celiac Disease

default
Posted on Sat, 20 Feb 2016
Question: I have been diagnosed with celiac disease, every once in a while I will have a bowel movement everytime I have to empty my bladder. This in turn makes my buttocks very sore. I use baby wipes to keep myself clean.
I have gained in the last few years 10 lbs. I am not able to exercise as I had polio, my dropped foot prohibits me from walking without a walker. The bowel problem is what I am concerned the most about.
Thanks

Brief Answer:
Take diphenoxylate

Detailed Answer:
Hello! Thanks for putting your query in HCM. I am Dr.Amit Jain (DM, Gastroenterologist).

Increased frequency of stool is just functional and there is no organic cause because in the background of celiac disease, weight has increased, suggest that it is not alarming.

However as you said it has become matter of concern as buttock have become sore, then simply take some antisecretory agent like diphenoxylate (Brand name Lomotil). You should take low dose that is 2.5mg tablet once in a day. And titrate dose according to the response. You should discuss with your doctor regarding this and get prescription

I hope I have answered your query. If you have any further query I will be happy to answer that too. Wish you a good health
