Question: My symptoms started with soar throat, then painful ears, severe congestion, and a lot of clear mucus coming up. My head feels swollen. After 4 days, the mucus at times has the faint color of yellow. I am currently taking Advil and Mucinex D. The pain in my ears and throat have subsided.

Brief Answer:
push fluids, nasal saline

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for your question.
Mucinex D is good for helping you to clear mucus and advil is good for aches and fevers. If you start having high fevers and worsening symptoms then you would need to see a doctor.
If you think you are getting better then there are a few things to do to help yourself feel better and to have symptoms resolve sooner.
Make sure you are drinking plenty of water at least 6-8 large glasses a day. Avoid caffeine and alcohol because they are dehydrating. Use nasal saline spray to keep you nasal membranes moistened and to flush out allergens. You can use this every 3-4 hours until you are better. Take a daily multivitamin and extra vitamin C, at least 2000 mg daily.
I hope you are feeling better soon.
