Question: My son (7) had a little bump (like a large pimple), in his inner thigh, close to the knee. Because he has Molloscus Contagossium i assumed it was that but this one was opened an bleeding. On Friday we noticed a large area around the bump reacting and showing a red rash, it is showing around the bump in a irregular pattern, but within a 2 inches radius of the bump. It does not hurt but itches. I have a picture.

Brief Answer:
Apply moisturizer. Give cetirizine.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone carefully through your query and understand your concerns. I have checked the attached image. It seems that there is an allergic reaction involved. Giving him some antiallergic like cetirizine once daily for the next few days should help. I would also insist you to apply some moisturizing lotion like aloe vera lotion topically for the next few days. Hopefully it would subside soon.

Let me know about its status after a few days. Feel free to ask me back in case of further queries.

Do you know why the allergic reaction occurred around the bump?

Brief Answer:
Could be due to a viral cause

Detailed Answer:
No I do not know but such things are commonly encountered. Some viral infection as a cause of the allergic reaction is possible. Such issues usually resolve in a week or so.
