Suggest Treatment For Side Effects Of Toradol

Question: ER dr put me on toradol Sun for back pain. Tuesday night I started having really bad acid reflux and throwing up hot acid liquid, followed by a thick substance that almost choked me to death, then severe vomiting of dark brown fluid, a lot of this. After about 36 hours of doing this off and on, I started having severe stomach cramps that won't go away. Eating soup and drinking even 7up makes the cramping even worse. I stopped taking the toradol when this started Tues night. I am weak and though my bowels are not loose, I'm going to bathroom more than normal. No more vomiting but very nauseaous. I do have barretts esophogus and worried the toradol may have triggered something to flare up in my esophogus. The cramping is only getting worse.

Brief Answer:
Tab Tarodol is the culprit so stop it

Detailed Answer:
Hello! Thanks for putting your query in HCM. I am a Gastroenterologist.

I can understand your concerns

Yes you are right that tablet Tarodol has made your symptoms worse. Tarodol (Ketorolac) can aggravate peptic ulcer disease and reflux symptoms. So it has to be stopped. Now I will advise you totake a proton pump inhibitor like Ilaprazole and a prokinetic agent like levosulpiride. They come in combination, to be taken before breakfast. Also take some antacids for faster relief.
Also avoid tea, coffee, oily and spicy and citrus fruits .Dont lie down at least for 2 hrs after any meal. Dont drink water for at least 2 hrs with any meal.
Also get your blood examination like complete haemogram to see whether there is any infection. If it is there then take a course of antibiotics. For abdominal cramps take antispasmodic agent like drotavarine. These are prescription medicines which you can get from your doctor
I hope I have answered your query and this will help you . Wish you a good health
