Suggest Treatment For Severe Stomach Pain And Dry Mouth

default
Posted on Mon, 27 Feb 2017
Question: Hi, for about 3 weeks I have had stomach pains right below my chest plate and right above my belly button. They have been a mild annoying type of pain, along with a lot of burping and extra gas, dry mouth, light fever.....a few days ago my kidneys started to hurt, now the pain seems to be expanding both up and down my back. I had a blood test and urine test done and they said everything looked normal except there was a small trace of red blood cells in my urine. What could this be? Also, I have noticed the past 2 days my stools have turned a lighter/pale, almost whiteish color. They put me on Zoloft 50mg and prilosec orc because they thought my stomach pain was from stress but I am really really starting to think otherwise

Brief Answer:
Could be a kidney stone. I suggest you get an ultrasound!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Given the fact that this pain hasn’t gotten better with good medications of stress ulcers, it is unlikely that the cause is from the stomach.

With increased pain and shifting of the pain accompanied with red blood cells in urine, I will think of possible kidney stones.

At this outset, I'd recommend that you get an ultrasound of the kidneys. This is good at screening for stones and looking at the entire kidneys. We will also be able to look at the gallbladder that may produce similar symptoms in a small percentage of persons.

I hope this sheds some more light on this. Let me know when this test is done. Also, if you have any further concerns, kindly let me know!

Regards
