Question: i am almost 90 yrs old i am recovering fro spinal surgery 18 months ago. I have had little pain just weakness and have been without pain except in relation to strengthening muscles which has not bothered me as i exercised and had rehab etc ow for 3 weeks i have had increasing hip pain that is more difficult because it is aching when i sit or move and gets worse when i try to reach down to pick up something.a short painful jab of sorts .so much so i do not reach down for somethings and sit down to pick things up...I have success with a cold compress for about 20 minutes and tylenol 3 times a day 500 mg. but still have fatigue and aching as the day goes by. i see my regular Dr in 6 weeks and do not want to go in earlier and have no help for this .The discomfort and pain and ability to reach has improved a bit in the last few days since i stopped exercising with 3lb weights etc for about 10 minutes plus stretching and just walked for exercise. This began when i was trying a new XXXXXXX exercise class which included more hip movement and leg use that I was used to. Since my surgery I have walked with a walker and with a four pronged cane when i am not using a walker. My right hip is more sore and hurts more when i get up from a chair of reach down to pick up something.

Brief Answer:
Possible hip joint pathology?Need MRI spine

Detailed Answer:
Hello, Sir

I can certainly understand your concern.

As per your clinical history narration, the possibility of hip arthritis or avascular necrosis hip is high.

This need to be immediately diagnosed and evaluated further.

For this, I advise you to get an MRI HIP JOINT on both sides.

Further management if any is based on test reports.

Post your further queries if any.
Thank you.
