Suggest Treatment For Severe Hair Loss And Bald Patches On The Scalp

Posted on Thu, 29 Oct 2015
Question: I am having severe hair loss and many bald patches on my head.

I have been diagnosed with both Alopecia Areata and Androgenic Alopecia by my Dermatalogist.

My Dermatologist prescribed a combination of Grocapix Gel at Night, Hairbless Solution in the morning and HairBless Tablets 2 times a day.

On the box of HairBless Tablets it says take one tablet per day. But my dermatologist has prescribed 2 tablets per day.

My questions -

1. Is taking Grocapix Gel, Hairbless Solution and Hairbless Tablets the best possible solution and will this help me out??

2. Can I safely take 2 Hairbless per day (for a few months) even though the recommended dosage on the box is 1 tablet per day??

3. Are there any side effects of Hairbless Tablets? Will it result in increase of my body hair too, in addition to increase in scalp hair??

4. Are there any side effects of Grocapix Gel and Hairbless Solution??? And is it safe to take them together (as precribed by my dermatologist)??

5. Can you recommend any other additional medicine for faster treatment? (as I'm getting married in a few months)

6. How much time does it normally take for hair growth under the above recommended treatment??

7. I'm also taking Wheatgrass powder daily. Does that help with hair regrowth and alopecia??

Brief Answer:
Results are temporary and inconsistent with the prescribed therapy

Detailed Answer:
Hello, Sir.

I can understand your concerns.

My answers to your queries as numbered below.

1.Yes, all the three medications prescribed is an optimum treatment at the moment. But the best treatment is hair transplantation.

2.Yes, you take 2 tablets of hair bless. This is not an issue.

3.Side effects for hair bless are minimal and it does not increase body growth.

4.Side effects are relatively rare with hair bless solution and grocapix gel. Both can be used together.

5.Minoxidil 2% gel is the best additional treatment I can prescribe. Please check with your physician if he shares this view and if can prescribe it to you. This can directly contribute to hair growth, but results are temporary.

6.It may take 3-4 months for significant hair growth, but even inconsistent results are possible.

7.Wheatgrass powder has no significant effects on alopecia control.

Post your further queries if any.
Thank you.

1. Are the results of these medicines prescribed above "permanent"? Or Will the effects be reversed after I stop using them??

2. Do I have to take these treatments for lifetime??

3. My dermatologist said that in my condition Hair Transplant is not an option as my alopecia areata and androgenia will cause my hair to fall off after transplant?? Is that true?? Or just a myth?? Can I safely go for hair transplant??

4. Does Hairbless Tablets does not increase body HAIR growth for sure?? Does it specifically work on scalp hair follicle ONLY? How can a tablet work "selectively" ONLY on scalp hair follicle and NOT on other hair follicle over other parts of the body??

5. Does Fenugreek seeds (in capsules form or otherwise) also help in hair regrowth??

6. Does smoking and alcohol cause hair loss??

Brief Answer:
Relevant answers provided.

Detailed Answer:
Hello, Sir.

I apologise for the delayed response.

The effects are short lasting.Once you stop the medications, the effects will be reversed.

Lifetime medications are not advisable and are never prescribed.

Hair transplantation is a definite option for Androgenic alopecia.

As far as alopecia areata is concerned, it can be treated successfully with steroids, immunoglobulins and minoxidil.

Hence after successful treatment of alopecia areata, you can go for hair transplantation.

Hairbless tablets will not increase body hair growth. It predominantly works on scalp hair follicles.

Fenugreek has no proven results on hair growth.

Smoking and alcohol, both contribute to hair loss.

Post your further queries if any.

Thank you.
