Suggest Treatment For Severe Dry And Chapped Lips
Question: Doctor, my wife's lower lips had been dry and cracked for the last 12 months. We thought it to be normal drynesss but the dryskin on the lower lip has moved on further to the skin below the lip. Is it reaction of lipstic or other kind of infection? Please advise. Thanks.
Brief Answer:
Mometasone
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the query and photograph.
It cannot be allergy to lip stick as it would have involved entire lip.
It is looking like a psoriatic patch.
I treat such cases with a mild steroid cream like mometasone.
It gives good results within a month.
She can try this in consultation of your doctor.
Let me know if you have any other doubts.
Thank you

Doctor, we bought the cream. But its mentioned only for external use. And the affected area is lower lip and below. So applying medicine in the area we're afraid the cream might get in touch with my tongue. Pls advise if the cream is safe even minute amount gets in contact with my tongue. Thanks.
