Suggest Treatment For Sensitive And Sore Mouth Post Relining Of Dentures

default
Posted on Mon, 5 Jan 2015
Question: I just had my dentures relined and the inside of my mouth is now sore and very sensitive. When the dentist first put the new reline material in, she stated that it would become warm but still keep the pressure. The material actually got rather hot but I tolerated it. Since then I am really sensitive in the upper denture and the pain seems to worsen when I remove the denture. Any ideas on what's going on. I have applied some over the counter pain gel to help relieve the pain at night, but it doesn't last very long. This has been going on for about a week now.

Brief Answer:
May be chemical/thermal burn

Detailed Answer:

Thanks for your query. I have gone through your query.

As far as the pain or burning sensation is concerned, it is because of the chemical or thermal burn secondary to the relining or rebasing.
Nothing to be panic, you can use topical anesthetic like lignocaine gel and topical analagesic like choline salicylate.
Do not use denture for 3-4 days till the lesions heals. If the lesion does not heal after 5 days, then consult an oral physician and get it evaluated.

I hope my answer will help you. Take care.

I assume that I will need a prescription for this from my dentist. Correct?

Brief Answer:
medication, analgesic, anesthetic

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for the feedback.
You are right, you need to consult a physician and take the prescription. It is unethical to prescribe drugs online. So consult a oral physician and take the prescription containing the above said medicines. You will be fine in 5days. But do not use dentures till the lesions heals.
I hope my answer will help you. take care.
