Brief Answer:
you should continue the antiepileptic drug.

Detailed Answer:
Hello. I have been through your question and understand your concern.

Since your brother is epileptic, he should be under antiepileptic drugs (AED). The main reason why epileptic patient suffer fits is because they do not take their treatment regularly, with the other causes being low blood concentration of AED and resistance to the drug. Generally after a certain period free of seizures, you can consider withdraw from AEDs.

But this last episode, makes it quite impossible to withdraw the medicine now. So he should continue with the AED.

So I recommend measuring the concentration of valproic acid (the drug he is taking) in the blood.

Though, there is nothing to worry about. The only "problem" is that it seems that he MUST continue his therapy.

Hope this answers your question, please feel free for further questions.
