Suggest Treatment For Ring Shaped Bruise On Forearm

Posted on Tue, 1 Sep 2015
Question: I have a ring shaped bruise on my forearm. It is about 2" in diameter with a unbruised center that is about 1/4" diameter and is hard. I don't remember being hit or hitting anything with my forearm. What do you think it is? I'm 71 years old on blood pressure medication, have 2 stents to my heart but in good physical condition. I overexert myself doing yardwork and live along the Gulfcoast in Alabama (it's hot). I have had this bruise for about 3 days now; and just now noticed that the center was hard. What do you think it might be?

Brief Answer:
Needs further workup if does not resolve in few days

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thank you for getting back with the answers. There could be possibility that it is minor subcutaneous bruise which will reabsorb itself in few days and there is also possibility that it is some hematological disorder. I would suggest you to wait & observe for few days. Hopefully it will disappear itself as soon as blood is absorbed from the subcutaneous tissue. If it persists even after 5-7 days then visit hospital and get an appointment for "Consultant Hematologist". He is specialized in blood disorders. He will perform some investigations including CBC with ESR, peripheral smear, clotting profile to confirm the diagnosis. Further management will depend upon the results.

Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help if not then don't forget to close the discussion and rate it.
Wishing you good health !!
