Brief Answer:
mostly due to vasovagal response.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

I have gone through your question and understand your concerns that your son is having reeling sensation.

Based on your clinical details, it occurs to be due to vasovagal syncope, which is the most common type of fainting seen in adolescents and in older adults.

Vasovagal syncope occurs in response to a triggers like - Prolonged standing, upright sitting, pain, stress, lack of sleep or hunger.

I suggest the following measures to overcome repeated fainting episodes.

1. Avoid triggers.
2. Relaxing the entire body, consumption of salt and fluids and sports drinks or drinks with electrolytes may be particularly helpful.
3. Educate him, how to respond to further episodes of syncope to prevent injuries of fall.
4. Medications like CNS stimulants fludrocortisone, midodrine, SSRIs[20] such as paroxetine or sertraline, disopyramide can be tried after consulting a doctor.

Discuss all about this with your doctor. You should inform to your doctor about your medications.

Hope this answers your question, if you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.

Wishing you good health.
