Question: I am feeling pretty good except for the shingles pain I've had since September. How long does that usually last?

Welcome to Healthcare Magic.

The pain left behind in the area where the shingles was ,weeks after the shingles heal it is called post-herpetic neuralgia.
The risk of having such complication after shingles increase with the age (the older you are when you get shingles ,the higher is that risk).
In majority of cases this pain lasts only few weeks to months after shingles heal.In a small number of patients it can last up to more than one year.This period is different from patient to patient and no one can tell for sure how long it will last.The good news if that it get's better with the time and there are o lot of medications that can be used to ease it.
