Suggest Treatment For Pimples On Chin

default
Posted on Mon, 6 Oct 2014
Question: Three days ago, I started to feel what I initially thought to be a regular spot/pimple form on the centre of my chin, just below the lips. It's clear this isn't a spot, however, and it my be a cold sore (I have had these a few times before, but normally on my upper lip).
Also, two days ago I started to feel a round hard lump under the centre of my chin, almost as if it is part of the actual jawbone. It is sore to the touch and seems to be fixed in place and cannot be moved.
I am also starting to get a mild headache and a very slight sore throat.

What's the diagnosis, please?

Brief Answer:
Acute sub-mental lymphadenitis...

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thanks for posting the query. I will try my best to help you with this problem.

The description mentioned by you could be related to the acute sub-mental lymphadenitis (infected sub-mental lymph node).

Lymph nodes are like policemen in the body, which props up to indicate that there is an active infection going on in the surrounding region. The hard node felt below the chin is because of the skin inflammation below the lip. The pain is an indication of the active infection.

Do not worry! With appropriate medicines you will definitely feel better. Discuss about this with your doctor, as you will require broad spectrum antibiotics such as a combination of amoxicillin & clavulanic acid or cefuroxime for treating this condition. Along with oral antibiotics you will also require a local antiseptic cream. Meanwhile try taking OTC pain relievers such as ibuprofen or diclofenac which can provide quick relief from the pain.

Hope I have answered your query; I will be available for the follow-up queries.
