Suggest Treatment For Persistent Vomiting

default
Posted on Tue, 3 Nov 2015
Question: My husband started throwing up yesterday about 6 30 pm. He is still throwing up today and has not stopped for any great length of time. He has tried to drink water so as not to dehydrate and ginger ale and both come up immediately. He has terrible cramps but no dyarhea or fever that I can tell. No muscle aches. At first I thought this was food poisoning but he keeps throwing up now for over 24 hrs. He is throwing up a lot of liquid sometimes light brown sometimes green when he has nothing in his stomach and hasn't had for over 24 hrs. Should I take him to the emergency or let it run it's course, whatever that may be. He also has a runny nose but no other cold symtoms.

Take him to ER

Hello thanks for putting your query in hcm .I understand your concerns regarding your husband. I will advise you to take him to ER as he is having persistent vomiting and unable to take orally since last more than 24 hours. Moreover he has cramps and cold suggesting he has some infection also. In ER doctor may advise for serum electrolytes abd complete haemogram to see for electrolyte deficiency if any and infection respectively and treat accordingly. He also requite iv fluids and antiemetic agent and may be antibiotics if there is any infection. I hope I have answered your query and this will help him. Wish him a good health
