Question: I have all these different symptoms. For the past couple years on and off: have body aches, am tired a lot, and have no energy. For the past year on and off: my stomach burns, I gag and sometimes vomit and feel like there's phlegm stuck in my throat. For the past 8 months on and off: I am out of breath when I bend over, I get diarrhea, my stool looks clay colored, other times my stool looks almost black, sometimes I think there is blood when I wipe in the back but I am not sure if that is from my period, and sometimes my pee is dark other times not. For the past few weeks on and off: I get pain in my back on the left and right sides, and I have to pee a lot. For the past few days my left shoulder hurts but not severely. A rough summary of my history. I don't have a gallbladder for about 2 years now, I eat quite unhealthy have too much sugar drink about 250 MG caffeine a day, I smoke a pack a day, I was diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome a year ago (I have cysts in my ovaries and I have my period for a few months at a time), I am on clomipramine and I take iron pills, I have severe ocd and anxiety, I am about 80 pds overweight, I have had about 3 urine infections in one year. Can you tell me a rough idea of what this could be.

Brief Answer:
IBS with GERD secondary to Poor Habits and PCOS

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I read your question and i understand your concern. The answer lies in the question. Polycystic ovarian syndrome predisposes bowel to inflammatory bowel and poor eating habits and smoking is working as counterpart to aggravate the problem.

Symptom of phlegm and burning stomach and nausea etc all point towards an acid reflux disease as well. With gall bladder removed these issues exacerbate further as there is no bile to combat the fatty meals and flatulence, dyspepsia and motility issues arise. Shoulder hurting is just the referred pain from the bowel.

Caffeine intake on its own is the risk factor and is likely the cause of your bowel symptoms too. Sugar and sweets doing the same thing for you. Rest of the illness work is being done with obesity, anxiety and sedentary lifestyle.

These altered bowel habits and all other symptoms are inflammatory bowel with gastroesophageal reflux disease associated with poor diet and lifestyle and PCOS.

All you need to do is modify diet and lifestyle and adapt good bowel and eating habits like fiber intake, plenty of fluids, reducing sweets and caffeine and quitting smoking, reducing dairy products, processed and canned foods and preferring natural products etc.

As far as the color of the sotol change and especially black with occasional blood indicates a bowel evaluation both Upper and lower GI evaluation by endoscopies and colonoscopies so book an appointment with a gastroenterologist and let them have a look at your bowels from inside and find a source of bleed if any.

Nutshell its all upto you and slight diet lifestyle modifications will resolve the symptoms of these bowel.

I hope it helps. Take good care of yourself and don't forget to close the discussion please.
