Question: Hello Doctor

I have a wound at the back of my neck that never heals. Its almost a year now . Lump formation occurs and it keeps on growing until it bursts. Betadine, T bact has no effect on it. It occured due to a sharp collar edge of a leather jacket a year ago. When it swels its really painful. Kindly help

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thank you for asking HealthcareMagic,

I have gone through your query. Avoid using irritants on the wound as it can be the most likely reason for not healing. Avoid Dettol or any other antiseptics and betadine.

Remove the slough in the wound if present(yellowish area). Use only saline for washing. You can buy normal saline from the pharmacy for this. After that, you can apply powdered Metronidazole tablets. Buy metronidazole tablets from medical shop powder it and apply. You can put a sterile gauze piece and tape if the wound is touching your clothing.

You can also take vitamin C and high proteinaceous food for faster healing.
Do check your blood sugar levels also.

You can upload the picture of the wound, to the reports section of this web page.

Let me know if anything not clear.
I am happy to help you.
Thanks.
