Brief Answer:
Needs further evaluation

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thank you for getting back with the answers. I have gone through them. As your history is long so we need to go further with some investigations. There is a possibility that pain is muscular in nature but muscular pain does not gets prolonged for such a long time. I would suggest you to once visit hospital and get MRI-LS spine done. It will confirm the status of foramina through which nerves leaves the spinal canal. Sometimes with age those foramina get narrowed and cause compression on nerves hence resulting in pain. Meanwhile following measures will give temporary relief:

- naproxen twice a day for 5 days.
- take hot water in a rubber bottle and put it at the site of pain. It will give soothing effect.
- avoid lifting heavy weight till you become healthy again.

Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help if not then don't forget to close the discussion and rate it.
Wishing you good health !!

I have already had a MRI that showed nothing substantially was wrong.

I am trying a heat pad, something I should have tried much sooner.

Brief Answer:
Please get visit to a physiotherapist

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thank you for getting back. In that case your symptoms are most probably muscular in nature. Also please do take a second opinion regarding your MRI scan. Visit hospital and get yourself examined by a physiotherapist. He will teach you some helpful exercises that will help in relieving the spasm of muscles and hopefully your symptoms will resolve.

Thank you
