Suggest Treatment For Pain In The Tooth After Trauma

Posted on Mon, 8 Aug 2016
Question: Hello Dr. XXXXXXX I have a dentists appointment next week and I am waiting to see what the problem may be. While I was waiting the dentist prescribed me antibiotics because he thought it may have been an infection. After the antibiotics the pain seemed to go away. But it has come back. Can you shed any light into this? What may that mean? Does that mean it's not an infection? Why would the antibiotics work temporarily if that is true?

Brief Answer:
Chances of infection are there, needs x ray..

Detailed Answer:
Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

As per your complain yes, there is a possibility that you might have infection in the tooth post trauma and as after taking Clindamycin that is an antibiotic and reduces infection there is a possibility that taking antibiotic is reducing infection and it might be leading to reduced pain..

But for complete resolution treatment of tooth is needed..

You should first of all get an x ray done and send me a scan of it then I will guide you accordingly..
As of now you can continue taking antibiotic as per the advised course and can also take pain relievers..

Please also tell me that you are advised only Clindamycin or along with it any other medication like painkillers is also given?
Please revert back..

Regards.
