Brief Answer:
It is a fungal or yeast infection in the oral cavity sir

Detailed Answer:
Hello sir and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. Thrush also called oral candidiasis is a fungal infection when the fungus lines up inside the oral cavity resulting in a fungal infection.

The treatment is usually the use of anti-fungal medication, but at your age oral thrush can result from an immunocompromised state and the medications used can be different. Please let me know if I can help you with any more information on oral thrush.

I hope you find this information helpful, please do not hesitate to write back to me for any further clarifications, I am always here to help.

Best wishes.

Hello. 3 days ago, I had a short-lived stomach virus, around 24 hours long, and vomited a total of 21 times, causing me to lose some weight and become dehydrated. Ever since then, I have had this continuing bad taste in my mouth. I tried drinking a lot of water, brushing my teeth and tongue constantly, and using mouth wash, but it doesn't seem to work. Originally, the bad taste originated in the left side of my mouth, along my tongue, and now it has spread to my entire tongue. I thought it may have been oral thrush, but I saw no film or change in my tongue's appearance.

I ve been taking amphotericin B for oral thrush for 3 days now, 10mg x2 daily. The thrush has affected my tongue and the upper back of my mouth and is slowly subsiding. I ve had a an upper respiratory infection (Dr said Bacterial Virus), which has largely died down, the coughing is absolutely minimal now and there s virtually no phlegm. I ve been breathing through my mouth a lot (been sick for 3 weeks) and have had many throat lozenges to cope with the coughing. Have been on Roxithromycin now for 3 days. I ve never been prone to thrush. Have been under a lot of stress - earthquakes in Christchurch, NZ. Ok, my question. Still feeling very tired, unwell and drained. Could this be due to the antifungal drug?

Have a doctor confirmed case of oral thrush. I had had unprotected oral sex with a woman who's std status was unknown to me and wonder (in my 7th week since) if it being the only ARS symptom if the chance are likely I may have ARS. I realize I need to wait 3months to get an hiv test t be sure but the stress and anxiety before is wearing at me knowing that thrush is a symptom and being a relatively healthy in shape person with no other ailments. Also was prescribed Nystatin which I'm into 1 week of using with very little result. Help

Hello. I am 33, 210 lbs and 6'2 tall. Approximately two months ago I was diagnosed with strep throat and was put on Penecillin. Took it faithfuly as prescribed by doctor. Throat still hurt afterwards, difficulty swallowing, felt like there were bumps on tongue towards back leading to middle of throat and when I ate there was a sensation that the food was not going down with ease; I would have to wash it down with a liquid. Went back to doctor and was given another kind of antibiotic-repeated the cycle and no change. Went back again and was given another antibiotic (arithromycin)-repeated cycle no change. Now, going on two months, my tongue appears hairy and ocassionally there is a white like film on the tongue. I think this is oral thrush but what explains the "bumps" feeling in throat? Is this also the oral thrush? Can it affect the esophugus/throat as well? Also, I smoked for seven years and quit two months ago and every morning am coughing up small amounts of phlegm, occassionaly feel short of breath and tight in chest (but not often). Is this normal or signs of some type of cancer? Thank you for your time.
