Brief Answer:
Dressing required

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for the query

If it's an unused sterile needle then here is what you should do

1. Stop the bleeding by applying pressure
2. Wash the area under running tap water for 2 min
3. Clean the area dry with a gauze piece
4. Put an antiseptic like dettol/savlon over a gauze piece and close it

since you are a diabetic make sure that you check for infection daily, If the wounded area changes color or you develop fever please Appraoch a gp for antibiotics

I hope I was of help, if you have any further queries please get back to me

Hello

Thanks for getting back

Apart from the already mentioned direction I have mentioned in my previous reply, tab Tylenol can be taken three times a day ( not more than 4 days) for the soreness, it will take atleast a week for the soreness to come down.

Dr,
I don't have any dressing or what you. I might have some Neosporin. I also probably have a band aid. What I was thinking is to apply some vitamin E ointment to where I stepped on the unused needle. Also, would it be a good idea to soak it in warm or cold water.

Thank you for ongoing attention to this matter.

Sincerely,

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for getting back letting me know about you have in mind.

Here is what you should do

1. Don't apply vitamin e.
2. Apply neosproin ointment on the cleaned and dried area and then apply band aid over it
3. Please don't soak the area with hot or cold water, it might just precipitate an infection

Please check the wounded area daily, diabetics stand a high risk of getting an infection.
